What to expect, and what to have ready
What you can expect
- Match the material to the traffic, the cleaning regime and the food or chemical exposure of each space, not just to the rendering.
- Flag maintenance realistically: which stones need periodic sealing and which do not.
- Help plan consistency across multiple rooms or locations, where manufactured surfaces often make more sense than natural stone.
- Provide written material details and care guidance for your facilities team.
- Work alongside your contractor, architect or designer with clear, prompt answers.
Helpful to have ready
- Drawings or dimensions of the surfaces to be covered
- How each space is used: traffic, food preparation, cleaning products, heat sources
- Whether several rooms or locations must match
- Schedule constraints, phasing and access limitations
- Any brand colours or finishes the stone must sit with

Common questions
Questions commercial ask us
What is the most durable choice for a busy bar or restaurant counter?
Porcelain and engineered quartz resist stains and acids and need no sealing; dense granite is close behind. Marble and other calcium-based stones etch with citrus and wine and are better kept to low-use feature areas.
Do commercial surfaces need special certification?
Requirements vary by use and jurisdiction. Food-contact surfaces in particular may be subject to local health-code rules, so confirm with your authority having jurisdiction and ask us for the material documentation you need.
Can several locations be matched?
Manufactured surfaces such as porcelain and engineered quartz are made to a consistent pattern and are the safest way to match across sites. Natural stone can be matched within a lot, but availability over time is not guaranteed.
